Diary of a Personal Shopper

Life of a Personal Shopper

06.30am Snooze. Snooze. Snooze. Ok I’ll get up then.

07.30 – Brekkie and a quick workout. Decide on outfit for today!! :)

8.30am Respond to any overnight enquiries, and finish off a Style Guide for a client who needs options for an Awards Dinner coming up soon.

9.30am Head in to Manchester to do a pre-shop before meeting my client for a personal shop at 11am.

10.45am Pre-shop done – am so excited to have lots of amazing pieces set aside that I know she will love! The retail staff have been super-helpful and lovely as usual, reserving my client changing rooms.

12noon Quick pit stop and coffee break with client to rev her up for the next hour of shopping; and discuss the ‘must haves’, ‘maybes’ and ‘wow’ pieces she’s just tried on. It’s a nice problem to have when she likes everything we’ve tried on so far – her husband may not agree when he sees their bank statement! Oops.

1pm Shop finished and heading back to the office to make calls and answer emails. A bit of Rihanna  (and a latte) in the car on the way home to re-energise!

1.30pm Followed up on four enquiries. 1) A man who wants to buy a gift voucher for his wife for a personal shop for her 40th Birthday. What a lovely hubby – plenty of brownie points for him :) The other two enquiries were very interesting opportunities to be a guest speaker for one event in London, the other in York, and one more to be a guest speaker for a college on the realities of being a personal shopper in Manchster. Oooh I do get around these days!!

2.20pm A few tweets to my followers about the day’s events whilst eating a couple of crumpets and browsing through Grazia! Ooh I like that jacket! Will post to Facebook along with a few other style suggestions that I’ve seen in the shops in Manchester today.

3.00pm Start to work on my next blog for Freya Lingerie’s Fitting Talks who I regularly blog for. Today I think I will write about my recent client – a 32FF busted lady who I advised needed to change her bras on a more regular basis because once the elastic gave up it ruined the look of all of her tops. Yesterday we sorted her out with two new Fantastie bras – a great brand for the larger bust and such a pretty collection…

3.05pm The phone rings and I up talking to a lady for half an hour about why she is feeling so disappointed with her wardrobe and how I could help her. Ends up becoming a booking!

5.30pm Heading out again for a networking meeting at a local restaurant; I’m getting hungry now!

10.00pm receive a text from today’s happy personal shopping client! A great way to end a busy day and remind me of how much I love my job! Off to Bedfordshire now me thinks.
