Style Advisor Manchester: Party Dresses

StyleAdvisor Party Dress

French Connection, £130

Style Challenge – Top Heavy
I like my bust and don’t mind my arms, but often feel a bit ‘top heavy’ in dresses as my legs are really skinny in comparison to my bust. I have no hips or bum whatsoever! I want to look slinky and sexy at my Christmas night out with the girls but often feel I can look a bit, well, ‘matronly’ in a dress. Any advice?

Style Advisor: Try this gorgeous silky mulberry coloured dress from French Connection (also available in Olive) It’s got the right amount of sex appeal, and shows off all your plus points – boobs, arms and legs; but the draping on the hips and bum adds curves in the right places to balance out your overall appearance.

Style Challenge: Tummy!
I’m fairly slim all over, about a size 12 – 14 but feel like I have a bit of a tummy. What sort of dress styles should I be looking for to work best for my body shape?

Style Advisor: This blue dress from Reiss is a great style option for those who feel they may have a little bit of a tummy, as the vertical draped panel down the middle of the dress breaks up the width of the body, and lengthens it in appearance by drawing the eye downwards (not across). This is definitely something I would have on hand in the changing rooms as a Style Advisor. Add a chunky statement necklace for even more impact, as the neckpiece will draw the eye up and away from the tummy! Genius!

Style Challenge: Thighs
I’m fairly happy with my body overall, but no matter how much I work out, I can’t seem to tone my thighs and legs above the knee to a point where I feel confident revealing them. However I’m bored of wearing maxi styles and would like to show off my figure more this Christmas – any style advice?

Style Advisor: Try this white midi dress from Whistles. The overall look is slinky and very flattering on the body, whilst the length is below the knee without being maxi. It’s still super sexy and will show off your figure, but also is very different to a lot of dresses you see about at the moment as a Personal Shopper.

Style Challenge: LBD
I’d love to do a little black dress again this Christmas for my works party, but want to go with something more ‘fun’ than my usual ‘elegant’ LBD. Any style advice?

Style Advisor: You can still be classy for your work’s do but show off your fun side with a sequin party dress! It has plenty of coverage so that you don’t show too much cleavage or leg at the office party; whilst really bringing out your fun side. Hobbs have done a great sequin party dress this season as have Damsel in a Dress.
