Dress for Confidence

"To love oneself is the beginning of a life long romance." Oscar Wilde

So many people in today's society suffer from low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. These people often dress themselves to blend in, to remain anonymous and the more they experience isolation and not being noticed, the more they believe they are not worthy of attention. To me this is heartbreaking. As an Image Consultant, it is my job to find the beauty within my client. Whether it is a beautiful smile, delicate wrists and hands, fantastic legs, great hair or fabulous curves I can instantly see the unique selling point in a person. They may or may not know what their positive attributes are, but more often than not, the British woman can reel off a list of their negative attributes and the things they hate about themselves, but become lost for words when asked the question "What do you like about your appearance?"

See the Positives.

That is where I help people. I encourage people to see their positives. They have usually never noticed their tiny waist, great bust or delicate ankles because they have focused for so many years on what they believe to be their thunder thighs, muffin tops or bingo wings. Once people start to dress in a way that accentuates their positives, they start to carry themselves differently, their posture improves, and their eye is concentrating more on their "assets". From simply changing their perception of themselves and retraining their eye they begin to FEEL differently and this is what Image Consultancy is all about.

No matter what a person wears, they need to feel comfortable. It needs to feel like them. That's why I work with people's EXISTING wardrobe. They are still wearing the same clothes, just in a different way that accentuates their positives and hides their negatives. People are not all after a drastic transformation - just subtle changes to improve what they already have.

Learn to Be Your Own Style Guru.

People often look to friends, partners and family for advice "Does this look ok?" To reassure their loved one, the response will be "You look great!" even though this may not always be the case. As an independent Image Consultant, my job is to make my client look and feel amazing, but also teach them how to do this for themselves. We will work to achieve looks that not only look great but that feel comfortable. From this comfort, comes a feeling of being at ease with the self and by accentuating the positives, the confidence starts to grow.

We've all had a day were we looked great and feel really happy with our appearance. On that day we felt amazing and had a truly wonderful time. Compare that feeling to the day when you rushed out of the house to work with greasy hair or wore a shirt with a stain on it. You spend the whole day feeling self-conscious about your flaw, which means you try not to draw attention to yourself. You miss out on being handed a project by your boss or an attractive man walks by you without so much as a glance. You feel invisible. Your self-confidence plummets and the cycle begins. Because you feel rubbish, you wear similar drab clothes again the next day, which has the same effect. It's a vicious circle but can lead to feelings of inadequacy and even depression.

There is absolutely no need to feel like this ever again. By looking and feeling good every day, you'll begin to notice the positive reactions you receive off others. This positivity will give you even more of a boost and you will want to feel like this the next day...and the next. You will start to achieve so much more as you start to believe in yourself.

So image really is everything. The only thing you have control of in your life, is your thoughts and what you project onto other people. So why not think about your good attributes, dress to accentuate them, think positive and boost your confidence. Life is too short for wishing that you looked a certain way.
So to love oneself really is the start of a beautiful romance. How can you expect anyone to even look your way or love you, if you can't look at yourself and like what's looking back.

Start using your image to build confidence today.
